In Matthew 3, John the Baptist steps out of the wilderness with a bold message: “Prepare the way of the Lord, make His paths straight.”
John isn’t talking about building roads—he’s talking about clearing the clutter in our hearts.
And the truth is, our lives fill up fast.
Not just with busyness, but with apathy… the “It is what it is” attitude.
With pride… the belief that we’re doing better spiritually than we really are.
And with sin… the habits, excuses, and hidden places we’d rather not face.
But here’s the good news:
When we clear the way, Christ fills the space.
When we make room, His kingdom takes root.
When we repent—not out of fear, but out of hope—God grows new life in us, just like that shoot from Jesse’s stump in Isaiah 11.
So this week, ask yourself: What’s one thing I can clear out so Jesus can move in?
Prepare Him room. Clear the way. New life is waiting.
Join us at 10 o’clock this Sunday at Pleasant View United Methodist Church.
